Welcome to the New Zealand Government - Auckland Policy Office (APO).  APO’s objective is to help transform Auckland into a world class internationally competitive city.

Internationally there is emerging evidence highlighting the importance of having at least one outward facing global city with the critical mass to lead a nation’s economic development.  Auckland is the only city in New Zealand that can be truly transformed into an “international city of scale” within the next 20-30 years. 

Auckland is already a great place to live, work and play – but it could be even greater.  APO represents central government’s commitment to helping build Auckland into an internationally competitive city which will help drive forward national prosperity for all New Zealanders.
